I WISH to express my support for Mr Teng Nee Peng's letter, "Lifts at every
floor a necessity, not luxury", on April 24. My mother has been living in a Housing Board flat in Joo Seng Road since 1982. She cannot walk down the steps properly as her knees hurt.
I noticed residents at some rented flats in Circuit Road had new lifts that stop on every floor built some years ago.
Residents like my mother and some old neighbours still do not have lifts that stop on every floor.
It is a necessity now as our population is ageing rapidly. I also hope HDB will speed up the lift upgrading programme for old flats.
