I REFER to last Thursday's report, 'ERA pays flipping profit to couple; agent and his boss quit'.

This is a classic case where the plaintiffs are educated and know how to seek redress. But there are many unreported cases where the victims are ignorant of the avenues available to seek redress, perhaps because they are poorly educated. They may suffer thousands of dollars in losses.

In the coming years, society will include a substantial ratio of the elderly who may want to sell their properties and live in a retirement village or pay their children's university fees.

The Government can help this vulnerable group by setting up a property department within NTUC Choice Homes with the primary task of preventing these people from losing their hard-earned money to unscrupulous housing agents.
