Just before midnight, project supervisor Ashirafur Rahaman Khan was told to vacate his flat at once by a group of six people. The 37-year-old man said that the incident happened more than a week ago. He and his wife were in their rented flat’s corridor in Yishun Street 81.
He said that his wife, who is eight months pregnant, and who had just flown-in from Bangladesh, was exercising in the corridor of their flat, when the group of six men and women along with their landlord and the landlord’s son confronted the couple.
“One of the men said I didn't pay my rent, so I had to move out. But I had already paid for the month and even gave some advance payment,” said Mr. Ashirafur, who rented the flat for $1,400 per month.
Some of the men entered their flat and forced them to remove their furniture.
Seeing his wife agitated, Mr. Ashirafur then decided to leave and vacate their flat. “Don't touch the furniture. We'll move it ourselves,” he said to them.
