RWS casino gears up for CNY opening

Singapore’s Universal Studios theme park and RWS casino are expected to open this coming Chinese New Year, which is considered a good timing.

Staff and tenants at Resorts World Sentosa (RWS) said they have been preparing for the big opening celebration scheduled for the weekend.

They have been told that the casino is targeted to open on February 13, while the theme park will open either on February 12 or 13.

“We were told this a couple of days ago. We are very excited about good business during Chinese New Year,” said Mr. Zie Samad, the manager of Chili's, a restaurant located beside the theme park entrance.

Dennis Foo, an entertainment veteran who will open a club at the IR in May said that “more than three people in senior management” told him that the theme park will take its first guest this week.

Mr. Foo visited the IR last month and said the casino is “100 percent ready”.

Several casino staff have said they are fully ready for the casino’s opening during Chinese New Year.
