Everyone I know is either having a baby or getting married and the last week has been no exception as I attended a joyous wedding of wonderful friends in Koh Samui, and I also discovered my dearest older brother and gorgeous sister-in-law are expecting their first child – what a week!

Back to the nuptials …I love weddings (and who doesn’t?) Especially when the setting is a tropical island, complete with loving family and friends with a day or two either side to really appreciate the surroundings. Unfortunately we weren’t there for long, but we’ll return as soon as time and cash prevails!

I was so impressed by the apparent zero fuss and stress demonstrated by our beloved bride and groom-to-be, who were both the picture of composure and relaxation, which isn’t commonplace for most soon-to-be newlyweds.

The resort staff attended to everything – the marquee, catering, music, flowers, candles, seating, cake, marriage certificate, photography and audio visual equipment. They even concerned themselves with suggested itineraries and places to dine to all of the wedding party. The only ‘mishap’ was the bride misplacing her iPod which contained all of the wedding ceremony and reception music. Did she adopt the anticipated ‘Bridezilla’ alter ego? Not a chance! The resort staff made the time to retrieve and download the music from the internet – such service and harmony reigned!

The day of the wedding was idyllic! I was overwhelmed by the beauty of the ceremony themed in white, purple and green. Frangipanis as well as tall planters with candles and orchids lined the carpeted aisle while purple and white orchids adorned every surface, including the marquee.

I am now dumbfounded. Being an unmarried woman in my early thirties; I thought I had my ‘dream wedding’ finalised in my mind but I’m not so sure now. I must say if attending spectacular and joyous weddings in tropical destinations has me confused; I am more than happy to remain in my state of uncertainty!!
